Yoga

Project Yoga has been bringing regular, playful yoga sessions to the Junior Ranger program in Maun since early 2025. A local yoga teacher works with trainers from the Knyphausen Foundation so children can practice focus, breathing, and relaxation on the mat. Especially children from disadvantaged backgrounds gain a safe space that offers stability and supports their inner strength.

Projekt

Regular yoga sessions fill our Junior Rangers with enthusiasm and joy.

The dedicated trainers of the Knyphausen Foundation are learning together with a local yoga teacher how to introduce yoga to children in a playful way. Yoga serves as a wonderful tool for the children to develop a deeper understanding of their body and mind.

For most children in Botswana, extracurricular activities or private yoga classes are unfortunately not a given.

Many of our young participants in the Junior Ranger program are orphans or come from financially disadvantaged backgrounds.

Lack of financial resources often prevents them from accessing additional educational opportunities outside of school, and their everyday lives are shaped by challenges arising from poverty and overwhelmed parents.

Yoga and meditation provide these children with stability. On the yoga mat, they learn to concentrate, to breathe deeply, and to connect with their inner strength. This practice shows them how they can relax.

The consistently positive feedback from children and trainers over the past months shows us that yoga classes are a valuable addition to the environmental protection sessions for our Junior Rangers.

On site in Maun, we are the first to offer yoga for children free of charge. The yoga sessions have been taking place since the beginning of 2025. Our goal is to permanently integrate yoga into the Junior Ranger program.
