On June 20, Letso and Katlego—our Junior Ranger gardening instructors—participated in a hydroponics workshop hosted by Grow 365.
Grow 365 is an innovative agricultural and hydroponics company based in Maun that specializes in climate-friendly and water-saving cultivation methods.
The workshop concluded with a visit to the garden at Botswelelo Elementary School. There, Letso and Katlego worked with the school’s Junior Rangers to set up a hydroponics system that is already working very well. It’s easier to grow plants this way. The soil on the elementary school grounds is of poor quality and has a very high sand content. With the help of the hydroponic system, the Junior Rangers can still grow vegetables.
For the future, we hope to see hydroponic systems installed in other school gardens as well, so that all Junior Rangers can grow healthy vegetables for themselves and their families.
