Ednah Basetsana Batlhalefi, born in May 2001 in Maun, completed a one-year training program to become a professional safari guide from September 2019 to August 2020 as a scholarship recipient of the Knyphausen Foundation. After many exciting training stops in South Africa and Botswana, she successfully completed her training with the renowned provider EcoTraining.

Edna and the Knyphausen Foundation share a special history: She was one of the very first Junior Rangers in Maun and began volunteering as an instructor in the Junior Ranger program in 2018. With great dedication and passion, she taught children and young people about the importance of nature conservation and environmental protection, always serving as a committed role model.

Today, we are delighted to continue supporting Edna on her journey. She is now the mother of two sons, ages three and six, and is confidently pursuing her career as a professional safari guide. In December, just as she did last year, she will once again join the team of guides accompanying the Junior Rangers during their major multi-day camp.

Edna impressively demonstrates the opportunities our Junior Ranger program can open up. She is an inspiring role model for the young participants—a young woman who has made her dream a reality through dedication, perseverance, and passion.
